YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
The session can take place at the location of your choice. When selecting your location, keep in mind that it must have plenty of natural light. It can be in a nearby park, your own backyard, or by a large window in your home. If you do not have a location in mind, I will be more than happy to make some suggestions for you. Sessions usually last about one to two hours and include 50+ images in an online password protected viewing gallery.
If the session is in your home make sure all blinds or curtains are opened prior to my arrival.
Pregnancy: Maternity sessions are usually booked at around 34 weeks to ensure mum-to-be is not too uncomfortable and her belly is beautifully round. It is important that you take into account your sense of style and types of photos you are wanting, as well as your level of comfort. Refrain from wearing any overly tight clothing prior to the shoot. This primarily applies to elastic in waistbands, bras, and socks. Tight elastic will leave marks on the skin, and won’t look very good in the photos.
Newborns: I’m happy for your newborn session to take place when you feel ready. Ideally the sooner the better as they only stay tiny for so long! All babies are beautiful and each session is individual. Please don’t feel like you need to have your baby fed and asleep before I get there, I will be in no rush. Sessions are captured with a ‘lifestyle’ feel, baby comfortable in its home environment and your family relaxed. I generally will not pose newborns. I generally recommend that parents wear solid colour tops, ideally neutral or muted colours.
Babies & Children: Dress your child comfortably and according to the weather. If your daughter likes to wear her favourite twirly dress, or your little boy likes to dress up in cowboy boots, let them. Simple patterns and bright colours are a good choice. For a more classic look, choose neutral colours. There will be time to make an outfit change or two during the session. Be sure to bring along a favourite toy or book. These are your memories and you want your child to reflect his or her own personality.
Families: Try to choose clothing that reflects your personal style. Try to choose solid colours and outfits that are comfortable. Avoid prints, stripes, etc., as this can be distracting to the final portrait.
Hello Baby: It is important to book your session well in advance. It’s important to call or text me when you think you’re in labour so that I am able to make arrangements. I will arrive at the hospital at your go ahead, and will stay for about 1 hour to capture all the moments of you falling in love with your baby.
Your images will be delivered to you approximately two weeks after your delivery.
